Dubbed the Bionic Handling Assistant, Festo, a Germany automation technology with a heavy emphasis on bionic learning, has created a robotic arm based on the flexibility and functionality of the trunk of an elephant. The new Bionic Handling Assistant has basic elements for spatial movement: a hand axis and a gripper with adaptive fingers.
